In plain language
No tracking cookies, no analytics. We use a small amount of local storage, and every key is listed below.
This box is a summary for convenience. The sections below are the operative text.
Cookies versus local storage
These two get lumped together, but they behave differently and it matters here.
- Cookies are sent to the server with every request you make. That is what makes them useful for tracking, and why they attract most of the regulation.
- Local storage stays in your browser. It is never attached to a request automatically, and the server cannot read it.
Arrow Puzzle keeps almost everything in local storage. There is exactly one cookie, it is not used for tracking, and it is only set if you take a specific action.
Local storage we use
Every key we write, and what is in it:
| Key | Purpose | Necessary? |
|---|---|---|
arrowpuzzle_profile |
Display name, score and the highest level you have unlocked. | Yes, this is your save file. |
arrowpuzzle_sound |
Remembers whether you muted the music. | Preference. |
arrowpuzzle_used_tokens |
Drop codes already redeemed, so the same code cannot be reused. | Yes, for the drop feature. |
arrowpuzzle_storage_notice |
Records that you dismissed the notice, so it stops appearing. | Preference. |
amazego_profile |
A save file from before the game was renamed. It is read once, copied to
arrowpuzzle_profile and then deleted.
|
Legacy, removed automatically. |
What we do not use
For completeness, none of the following appear on this site or in the extension:
- Analytics of any kind, including self-hosted analytics.
- Advertising or retargeting pixels.
- Social media buttons or embeds.
- Third-party fonts or CDN-hosted libraries.
- Session recording, heatmaps or A/B testing tools.
- Device fingerprinting.
How to clear it
Clearing site data removes your saved progress along with everything else. We cannot recover it, because we never receive a copy.
Chrome and Edge
Open the padlock or tune icon at the left of the address bar, choose the site settings or cookies entry, and delete the data for this site. Alternatively use Settings, then Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data.
Firefox and Safari
Both offer a per-site data option in their privacy preferences. Look for "Manage Data" in Firefox or "Manage Website Data" in Safari.
The extension
Removing the extension removes its storage with it.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent requirements exist for storage that is not strictly necessary, chiefly tracking and advertising. We have none of that.
The one cookie we set is a rate limit on a feature you chose to use, and the local storage entries are your save file and your preferences. So instead of asking you to agree to something, we show a short notice explaining what is stored and let you dismiss it.
If you would rather store nothing at all, play in a private or incognito window. Everything works; your progress simply will not persist after you close it.
